If you’re an angler who tackles a variety of venues up and down the country, as well as on the continent, you’ll know that the conditions on the bank can change day in and day out. Weather and other factors can have a huge impact in the quality of the bank where you find yourself fishing and a session following a night of frost or a day out in the sun will give you a completely different bankside experience than a session following a day (or more) of heavy rain or a season of high waters. When you’re fishing on a soggy, boggy, or damp bank, the standard length Korda Singlez Spike might not give you the stability that you demand from your setup. Luckily, this is something that Danny and the Korda team have thought through extensively. This is why the brand has designed this Singlez Spike Extension. It can simply screw into the top of your existing spike, adding extra length that allows you to cut deeper in the bank – anchoring your entire set up even in sloppy conditions.
As with the rest of the Korda Singlez range, this Singlez Spike Extension has been manufactured by JAG on Korda’s behalf. This is because Korda recognised that it was not in the best position to fully realise this range and the branded need specialist assistance in order to ensure that the product range was everything it promised to be. This is where JAG stepped in. JAG is a stainless steel expert brand with its production base right here in the UK. This meant that Korda could be confident that the Singles range was of the highest quality and the brand was committed to manufacturing gear that was not only durable and hardwearing but also exceptionally good looking, too.
The Korda Singlez range was first imagined by Korda founder and carp fishing expert, Danny Fairbrass. This was way back in 2008, when Danny was over in France fishing with some friends. He had been getting frustrated with setting up on the bank for a number of years and he was relieved to see these frustrations mirrored by his friends. They were all fed up of wasting valuable time on the bank attempting to get their rod support systems set up, level, and evenly spaced. Even when they had managed this seemingly impossible feat they still found themselves unsatisfied by the stability and security of their setup. At first Danny was saddened that there wasn’t an existing product on the market which could give him and his friends what he wanted but then he remembered that famous saying: if you want something done right then it is best to do it yourself. He began sketching out the idea for the Singlez range there and then.
Two years later and Danny was finally on the bank with the first prototype of the Singlez system. This was still a way off the system you see today but already it was turning heads at the water’s edge. There was hardly a moment that passed without a passing angling popping into the swim to admire and enquire after Danny’s setup. All the anglers were very impressed and Danny could see that demand was high for this kind of product range. It would take another six years for the product development to finish completely and for the complete Singlez range to hit the market to fantastic acclaim. After all, what carp angler doesn’t want a versatile and durable system which offers them stability whilst also looking incredible! The Korda Singlez System offers all this and much more besides.
